Champagne Problems, Courtesy of Amazon and My Contractor 🥂💀

About a year and a half ago, someone gifted me a very expensive bottle of champagne. Since my favorite type of alcohol is the cheapest thing I can find at Costco, this felt monumental. My husband and I decided to save it for a special occasion, and what could be more special than the launch of my debut novel, Humans Don’t Have Horns?

But then… renovations happened. 🔨

While I was traveling, my contractor accidentally knocked out the electricity in our house for several days. And so, farewell, fancy champagne. Destroyed by an unscheduled blackout. 💔

To make things even more fun, the renovation dragged on so long that I’m currently living in a construction site.

As if that wasn’t enough, Amazon decided to play the villain.
I discovered a tiny mistake on my paperback cover just days before launch, but Amazon doesn’t allow updates within five days of release. Naturally, I decided to wake up early today and change it the second the book went live. But Amazon didn’t earn nemesis status for nothing.

During an hour and a half phone call before I even had coffee☕️they offered me solutions that made things worse, not better. My perfectionist heart is bleeding, but the launch goes on. Minus the champagne.

Now for the good news:
The early reviews for Humans Don’t Have Horns have been staggeringly positive! 🌟
I’m now being lovingly bullied to write the second book. (I love it when you bully me like that, pleas proceed). This is both heartwarming and surprising, because while writing, I said Humans Don’t Have Horn won’t be a bestseller. It is just so different from what’s leading on BookTok. I wrote it the way i wanted needed anyway. And maybe, just maybe, people are craving something that’s different. Something new.

And if you’re one of those people… this book might just be for you. 💘

📖 About Humans Don’t Have Horns
Humans Don’t Have Horns is a dark fantasy romance set in Amada, a continent ruled by a “True Religion” that ranks people by hair and eye color and demonizes a horned race called the Cursed Ones.

It follows a traumatized princess and a vengeful warrior as they confront an empire’s lies, slavery, and religious extremism while deciding if they’ll break the cycle of vengeance together.

Tropes: enemies-to-lovers • forbidden love • resilient heroine • found family • political intrigue • original magic system • multiple POVs
Spice level: Open-door 🌶️🌶️🌶️

A Heartfelt Ask:
If you’ve read the book, please leave a review on Amazon and Goodreads. It makes a huge difference for indie authors.
If you already reviewed it on Goodreads – I adore you. 💕 And I’d love it if you could copy your review to Amazon now that the book is live.

🎧 Audiobook Update:
The audiobook is ready – just waiting on Amazon to approve the square cover (not rectangular, which has become my personal hell).

Whenever I feel despair, whether from Amazon or from sleeping on the floor in my kid’s room while the renovations drag on, I remind myself:

These are all, in the end… champagne problems. 🥂
